In an effort to help residents stay cool and safe this summer, Ameren Illinois is donating 500 ENERGY STAR®-rated window air conditioners to community action agencies across the state. The agencies will distribute the units to their local client families and individuals who meet Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) guidelines, including veterans and those with disabilities.

Agencies receiving units are:

  • Crosswalk in West Frankfort
  • East Central Illinois Community Action Agency in Danville
  • Empowerment Opportunity Center in Decatur
  • Madison County Community Development in Edwardsville
  • Peoria Citizens Committee for Economic Opportunity
  • St. Clair County Community Action Agency in Belleville
  • Two Rivers Regional Council of Public Officials in Quincy

“Beyond comfort, many of our clients need air conditioning for health and safety reasons,” said Jeremy Oshner, Executive Director of Two Rivers Regional Council of Public Officials. “Ameren Illinois’ generous donation will have a huge impact on those most in need.”

“We understand the summer heat can be challenging for some customers and we hope these air conditioner units will help assist some of our most vulnerable customers,” said Brian Leonard, senior director of Government and Community Relations for Ameren Illinois. “The units we are donating are energy efficient allowing customers to stay cool and safe, while managing their bill.”

Two Rivers Regional Council of Public Officials will begin accepting requests for A/C units on TUESDAY, JUNE 20TH.

Since 2013, Ameren Illinois has donated more than 3,000 air conditioners to residents across its service territory. Energy Assistance programs are also available to assist Ameren Illinois customers. Please visit amerenillinois.com/energyassistance for more details.
