The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) provides a national workforce preparation and employment system designed to meet the needs of the nation’s businesses and the needs of job seekers and those who want to further their careers. In addition to various employment services, WIOA can assist with tuition, books, fees, required supplies and other support services for training, such as transportation costs through mileage reimbursements. A variety of criteria are used to determine eligibility for services in three main categories described below, however all WIOA participants must be a citizen of or authorized to work in the United States and registered with Selective Service, if a male over 18 years of age. Veterans receive priority for service.

Youth Services

Eligible individuals aged 17-24 may receive a wide range of job assistance and training services.

Adult Services

Income eligible individuals aged 18 and older may receive adult services, including job assistance and training.

Dislocated Workers

Dislocated workers are individuals who have been laid off due to plant closure or mass layoff or are unemployed through no fault of their own, and may be eligible to receive services similar to those offered to Adults.
